Taken at a 'wildlife park', it's a nice park but still has animals behind bars and not in the wild. Shame on me for supporting (with my admission fee) such parks/zoo's but i really enjoying seeing these amazing animals.

Anyway, i hope you enjoy the picture.

Yah...it's kinda of a win and lose situation. People get to see these amazing animals thanks to zoos and what-not. However, it seems this is the only way people can seem to save these beautiful creatures. The only active-protection that works.

Scary looking guy or girl. Although you are helping too with your fee to the park/ Zoo for some animals from being extinct. I have learned much latley from documenting two new baby Samatran tiger cubs at the Los Angeles Zoo. There are only 1000 left. EEEK Humans.

You captured the idea very well! I just love the way the light catches his/her eyes.
Very similar to Imprisonment of Color by =dpakoh, and as good executed.

I'm glad you gave the sad smilie, that was the purpose of the shot. They do seem like very happy gorillas all told but no one wants to be in a cage. I happy that you appreciate the moment this shot caught. Thanks for stopping by.

That is one mean looking gorilla!

Great black and white tonality, the highlight/shadow range is awesome. And the red eyes really add an extra impact to this image. Well done!

Thanks very much for the thoughtfull comments.
I was lucky with this shot, both the gorilla and sun were in a great position relative to me. Desaturating and leaving the eyes coloured was not the original idea when i took the shot but after getting home decided it worked quite well. I'm glad you like the result, thanks again.

lovely job. the feeling of lonliness is certainly portrayed here. nice dramatic effect of leaving the eyes in color. its as if he is looking into my soul...

keep up the good work.

Thanks, i'm glad you like the eye effect, it was what i was trying to achieve. I only adjusted the contrast a small touch and desaturated all but the eyes. Thanks for the kind words. :)

ohh great work!
It looks so angry behind the cage, you just captured the gaze on the face perfectly, and made it even clearer by making the photo black and white and the eyes red.

This photo is very powerful as it seems to evoke emotion well from an animal, who is of a very close cousin of our own species. We do not like being caged up, and this photo shows that this animal may not either.
The colour of the eyes and the shadows that partially hide them back up this point. With the sharp contrasts of dark and light, this photo echos the harshness of man and his desire to control all. I would think that this Gorilla would much prefer to be in the wild and not be seen as an exhibit at a zoo.
Of course, Zoos and parks are very educational the majority of them take excellent care of their animals, but this photo conveys to me a sense of freedom taken away from the powerless minority, who are in this case, the Gorillas and from a broader spectrum - the other animals caged in zoos.
The bars of the cage only accentuate this idea through an excellent capture.

You should be very proud of this.

impressive work, very emotional.. I like the b/w in contrast to the colored eyes! definitely an awesome piece.. I feel a little disattracted by the fence although it belongs to the picture and although it's one of the main points in this shot..
great work!

Thanks for the kind words, i must admit i find the fence 'a must' in this shot although without it, it would have been a lovely and not so sad picture of a gorilla (if i must say so myself! )
